Sketching

The semester has finally come to an end.  Throughout the semester we have been focusing a lot on drawing.  We've been doing observational sketches as well as random practices in class.  We've learned to capture the essence of a picture and draw it really fast, sometimes in thirty seconds, or take our time and get as much detail as necessary.  I'll have to admit that I do not particularily enjoy drawing, and I'd much rather be drafting.  However, I do think my drawing skills have improved a great deal.  Most helpful was when we completed an exercise where we adopted different class mates methods of sketching.  This allowed me to practice different ways, and I think I found one that resonated with me the most, thanks to Lindsey Grace.  The above sketch is one that I chose from my observational sketch book as my "best" or more likely my favorite drawing.  I completed it relatively fast, but for some reason I really like it.  I think it's because I used the new method!  Overall I enjoyed the semester and I'm ready to jump into the next one!
