Commodity, firmness, and delight

I think the library was one of the best places for commodity, firmness, and delight.

The entire space is designed for commodity, or in order to be useful.  The purpose is to provide an environment and space where students can come to educate themselves, and pick a space to study.  Therefore I think the commodity level is definitely high, since these needs are met with the design of our library.  I'll agree that is is definitely not the prettiest of our buildings, and it does not match the design of the other UNCG buildings on campus, but on its own, the library is personally the prettiest building to me.

Firmness:  The library is older, and the circular structure at the entrance to the library has so far stood the test of time.

I think this part of the library is beautiful.  It has a circular structure held by ionic columns.
Not only does this structure qualify in firmness but this is also a section where the level of delight is high.  It creates a grand entrance and is beautiful.

The McIver statue stands directly in front of the library entrance, like we discussed in class, and then directly in front of the building across from it.  Here the axes becomes aligned and designed well.

I also think the music building was exceptionally designed.

It has a circular entrance similar to the library, however this one is carried to the inside of the building, as well as the entire structure of the building.

But what is more important to me is that this ones axes is perfect and the design of the circle seems perfectly thought out.  For instance, there is a long, modern pathway to the entrance.

This pathway also incorporates a circular design with it's overlapping arches.  Inside of the building at the top of the circle is an organ :)  I think the delight of this building is a high score, as well as commodity.  As for firmness, we'll have to wait because the building is new.
